The Film Buff
The highs and lows of a wannabe film snob.
About
I want to be a film snob. There, I said it. I want to sit at the head of a dinner party table, a glass of merlot swirling in my hand, and say things like 'the french stuff is so much more refined.'
Two problems: I hate red wine and, as of January 2026, my favourite film of all time is 'Pirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl'. I am not ashamed of this choice; I maintain that it is a fantastic film, and I cringe when I see celebrities rattle off four films that no one has ever seen that sound dreadful and title them as their favourites of all time. I struggle to believe that a Romanian indie film with four words in total that is five hours long and relies on smellevision is your favourite film, Mr 'I haven't won an oscar yet and am trying desperately to assert myself as a serious actor in my new film about Sputnik'.
However, as a self-confessed film fanatic and screenplay writer, there are many classic films I am ashamed to admit I have never seen. This blog will document my quest to watch them, give my thoughts, and, ultimately, become the film buff to end all film buffs.

Yours sincerely.
